Action Points

Garrion's thoughts on AP

Action Points

My understanding of them

Action Points or AP is an unseen point system that is used every turn for all actions. For instance in combat you can attack and defend.

On neutral tactics you will use half your action points for defence and half for attacking. Eg if you are attacked 2 times you will try to defend those attacks as well as attack your opponent.

On insane tactics you will try to attack as many times as your action points allow and only if you have any AP left over will you try to defend. The limit on attacks seems to be 2 attacks per round and is dictated by several different things.

Making the most of AP

More bang for your buck

The skill fi.sp.ta directly effects how well you use your AP. The higher the bonus you have in this skill means that each action performed uses less AP therefore allowing you to do more actions each turn. A person with a high fi.sp.ta bonus may be able to attack 2 times per round and still defend against several opponents even when they have their tactics set to insane.

It must be noted that AP does not affect your chance of success in your defence or attacks, just the amount that you can do. The success in these actions is dictated by the skill used, such as fi.me.sw dictates your success in hitting with a sword.
