A permanent light source that does not drain GP.
Permalights are made by zapping an item with a balsa wand. This requires at least 5 successful zaps in a row to turn the item into a permalight. It may however take a lot more than 5 zaps to make the item a Permalight as a failed zaps not only causes damage to the caster it drains some of the light from the item. Note: this process requires great skill and can be very dangerous to the caster.

Balsa wands
Found in wand shops across the disc, these wands can have anywhere between 1 and 3 charges when purchased.
A lot of the cost involved in making Permalights is from the cost and effort required in collecting these wands.
