My grandmother died recently, and when we went through her house we found an account of her adventures as a child, written by her friend Ruth. Some of it is no doubt exaggerated, but even taking that into consideration, they were lucky not to be seriously injured¹ or killed.

Anyway, I thought it worth sharing, so my brother typed it up and I put it here. The original was typed on a typewriter, and the pages were a little damaged in places, but almost all of it was legible and has been reproduced here as close to verbatim as possible. The formatting is changed slightly, the paper is just an image I found on the internet, but the words are all there, including the errors.

You will notice sections that look like this:
XXXXXX
Ruth evidently "erased" mistakes by typing a row of Xes over them and this is how I've represented that.

One page was missing its upper-right corner, and I've also done my best to represent that, but this makes some of the text hard to read in Internet Explorer. I recommend a less shitty browser, as neither Firefox nor Opera suffer from this problem.
