The miner's helmet has a candle attached which makes it a light source.

[edit] Long Description
When unlit:
This is a miner's helmet with a shielded candle cleverly attached to it. The candle is not lit.
When lit:
This is a miner's helmet with a shielded candle cleverly attached to it. The candle is burning with a steady yellow light.
When burnt out:
This is a miner's helmet with a shielded candle cleverly attached to it. The candle is not lit, which is not surprising, since there is nothing left but a charred piece of the wick.
[edit] Appraises as
The miner's helmet (lit) is about nine inches long and about nine inches wide. It is made of iron and could be worn as armour.
[edit] Usage
A miner's helmet can be worn. It will also stay lit if dropped, unlike candles and torches.
When lit, it produces quite a bit of light. It will burn for an hour before the candle it comes with burns out.
You can "replace candle" to put a new candle in the helmet, causing it to reset and once more have an hour's worth of light left (you need to have a candle in your inventory to do this). Note that the helmet isn't a container that can hold candles--you're essentially "feeding" the candle to the helmet. You can't remove candles from the helmet, you don't get a used candle back when you replace it, and the amount of time the candle itself would burn appears not to affect the amount of time the helmet will burn.
