Research:Bury
From Discworld MUD Wiki
[edit] Time available for recovery
A bit of research. Observing when buried items can no longer be recovered in certain regions. (Using Ankh-Morpork pennies.)
Assuming: Disappear time is the same for a single type of item, disappear time in an area is fixed
| Location | Longer than | Shorter than |
|---|---|---|
| Cabbage fields outside Ankh-Morpork | 6 minutes, 20 seconds | 6 minutes, 31 seconds |
| Losing Street, Ankh-Morpork | 7 minutes | 8 minutes, 1 second |
| Main Hall of the Thieves' Guild | 7 minutes | 7 minutes, 21 seconds |
| Muddy part of the river Ankh | 6 minutes, 15 seconds | 7 minutes |
| Solid part of the river Ankh | 7 minutes, 3 seconds | 7 minutes, 30 seconds |
[edit] Brightness
When it is completely dark you cannot examine any items, and you cannot bury them:
> bright Wherever you are, it's in pitch darkness. > drop penny You drop something. > look at penny It is way too dark to see anything at all. > bury all Cannot find "all", no match. > bury penny You cannot see well enough to bury anything. > get penny You get one Ankh-Morpork penny from something.
When it is bright enough to determine the presence of an item it can be buried:
> bright Something is in near darkness. > drop penny You drop something. > look at penny some coins > bury all Cannot find "all", no match. > bury penny You tidy up the place, clearing away something. recover penny You recover one Ankh-Morpork penny.
