Now this is a fashionable piece of work. A pure silver mail shirt which stretches from shoulders to knees and is belted at the waist by a silver-buckled leather strap, it would look stunning worn over a black undershirt. However, looks is probably all it is good for, given that a well-swung sword would probably go through silver chain mail like a hot knife through runny butter. It might just protect you against some certain things, though.
