Talk:Thaum crystal
From Discworld MUD Wiki
Huh. That's kind of freaky. I wonder if smashing them is really supposed to be able to reduce the number of thaums in a room? I can't imagine how that's supposed to work, anyway.
I can donate some thaum crystals to SCIENCE if you're running out. I was going to experiment with smashing them but never got around to it (so much for breaking through to the Dungeon Dimensions that way). --Ilde 03:20, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Well someone (Elanor maybe?) wrote that they bugged it I think, probably in the newspaper article that chronicled the introduction of shards.
I can just fly to the nest to get crystal eggs so it's not hard to get more but I don't have the time to finish the testing today.
I guess these weird things are designed to keep people from raising thaums too high in arbitrary rooms, but the stale thaums diminishing is very weird.
- That article mentioned that it was to be fixed soon but apparently not yet... Maybe it's designed that way?

Ok so the weirdness also went to bug #118350.
Just need to find a room that starts with less than 500 thaums stale thaums to check that it adds up to 500 with fresh thaums + stale thaums = 500.

- Have you tried the Artificers' Academy? The smithy "has seen some use of magic", and I think that's all stale thaums. --Ilde 05:09, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Ok got the fixed bug reply about the negative thaums, hopefully the whole thing is simpler now. Need new research. --Frazyl 06:49, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
