[edit] Description

This looks like a six foot length of wood with thirteen strings fastened along its length. The back of the wooden body of the koto is flat, whilst the front where the strings are fastened is slightly convex. On each string is a peg that is set at a particular length of the string, this produces the pitch of the note from that particular string.
